The Hannah x NZ Fringe 2027
New Zealand Fringe Festival returns to venues, spaces, places, and “other” for 2027! The Hannah is proud to be a Fringe Venue and expressions of interest are now open to present your work here as part of this buzzing, brilliant festival in the heart of Te Whanganui-a-Tara.
NZ Fringe is the largest open-access festival in Aotearoa. Anyone can register, produce, create, and present an event in the festival 12 February - 6 March 2027. But first you need to find the right space! Could that be the Hannah Playhouse?
The Hannah is a theatre and performance lab in the heart of Wellington. Year-round programming aims to support the creation and upscale of innovative works that amplify the city's creative impact and support the careers of our artists.
The 243-seat Auditorium is suitable for mid-scale independent theatre, dance, music, circus, cabaret, comedy, and more. The smaller Halfway Up at The Hannah space – located in the Hannah bar – is best for stand-up comedy, poetry, readings, solo theatre, and works in progress. We are also open to installations and activations across the building.
Outside of NZ Fringe, programmed artists are all professional performing arts creatives, utilising our unique space for the development and independent presentation of work of impact and/or scale. During Fringe season, we open our doors a little wider for more emerging practitioners taking a career leap, as well as established artists trying out new, wild ideas.
Practical support from NZ Fringe and The Hannah's most affordable hire rates help make this possible!
