How do I book The Hannah for a performance or event?
To pitch a project at the Hannah, reach out to the General Manager to discuss: eleanor.strathern@wcc.govt.nz The Hannah actively seeks work that is ambitious in its scale and/or impact, and supports the professional performing arts sector here in the city. Priority will be given to mid and senior career artists whose work will benefit from what the unique model of the Hannah can offer.
What is included in the venue hire fee?
Negotiated venue hire rates include:
Auditorium or Halfway Up, green room, dressing room
Use of technical inventory
Associated support from a Venue Technician
Event management support from the General Manager
Bar operated by Tasting Room for all public performances
Placement of marketing materials online, around the theatre and, where possible, at partner locations
Venue hire is exclusive of:
Ticketing services
FOH Manager and usher hourly rates
Technical Operator - if a production does not have their own, a YOOCrew contractor can be supplied at cost
Can I visit the venue before making a booking?

What is the venue capacity?
243 seats in the default end-on arrangement (including balcony). Reconfigured seating arrangements have variable capacities. 300 standing room only.
What technical equipment is available onsite?
Technical house inventory is included in your hire - refer to our Technical Specifications.
Can I bring in my own sound or lighting equipment?
Yes — you are welcome to bring in additional tech, provided it is PAT tested and tagged.
Do you provide ticketing services for my event?
No — we recommend utilising iTicket, Eventfinda or Humanitix, depending on your production needs.
Is there space for merchandise sales?
You are welcome to sell merch at the Hannah, but must provide your own salespeople and way of accepting payment. The Hannah does not take a merchandise clip.
Can I serve alcohol or food at my event?
Our Halfway Up Bar on Level 1 is operated by the Tasting Room. The bar will be open prior to all public performances and at other times as agreed (e.g. post-show celebrations). The Tasting Room also have catering options available with a delicious selection of shareable plates. Due to alcohol licensing laws, you cannot bring in your own alcohol to serve at your event.
Can The Hannah help fund my project?
The Hannah does not fund projects, however we operate in partnership with Wellington City Council which heavily subsidises the venue hire charges to make it as accessible as possible for the creative sector. Please note, this means if you are applying for WCC Arts & Culture funding for work at the Hannah, you will not be funded for venue costs.
In your application for funding, we recommend that you give details of all income and expenditure in your budget inclusive of venue hire but note that this particular line item is not eligible for funding from WCC grants.
