He Māori?
A Te Tiriti and Me roadshow | Presented by Taki Rua Productions and Wellington City Council
Īhaka Martyn will have you laughing and crying as he weaves stand-up comedy, waiata and physical performance to explore the confusion, comedy and celebration of reclaiming his Māoritanga from a Pākehā upbringing. It is a journey from total confusion to partial understanding.
He aha? He Māori? Is he? Maybe - it depends.
WINNER Peter Harcourt New Playwright of the Year 2022
He Māori is a 60-minute performance with a short Q+A session afterwards. Suitable for all ages.
All sessions are free. Booking required due to venue capacities.

Te Tiriti and Me is an opportunity for Wellingtonians to talk about what Whakapapa and The Treaty of Waitangi means to them. After the successful delivery of Te Tiriti and Me across communities on Waitangi Day 2025, the roadshow is back! In 2026, a touring theatre show designed to be presented in schools and community spaces tours to Tawa, Khandallah, and Te Aro all in one day.
