Bleed Out
Directed by Miranda Manasiadis
Following a standout performance at Lōemis Festival last June, Bleed Out returns with two of Aotearoa's best contemporary dancers, and the music of acclaimed composer David Long.
Bleed Out draws from the figures of the hunter and the huntress. Figures that are both fierce defenders, and relentless destroyers. Skilled custodians, and obsessive pursuers of prey. Bleed Out looks at our own complex relationships to dependence, responsibility and possession. The wild that exists in all of us when we have reached a precipice...
"Primal. Hypnotic. Visceral. Relatable. It was absolutely stunning. I wanted to creep back to my car like a tiger-creature." - Rob Sarkies, filmmaker
"We were deeply moved. It's spiralling intensity, intimacy and emotion. A dance drama with psychological burn. David's music was banging!" - Stuart McKenzie and Miranda Harcourt, theatre and film practitioners
"Luke and Georgia together - amazing! The audience had such huge appreciation. David's music! The lights! Fabulous!" - Malia Johnston, choreographer
"It was like watching a Nan Goldin work come to life... A triumph. It felt like a happening." - Gabrielle Stevenson, costume designer
