Drag has been a key element in the worlds LGBTQ+ communities is hotter now more than ever, thanks to the growing drag scene in New Zealand and the mainstream attention in America due to the popular televised reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. This has increased the acceptance of drag in everyday society and now drag superstars are looking to take over the world!
Check out drag performers Bunny Holiday, Willy Smackn’Tush, Harlie Lux, Robin Yablind, Bombay Bombshell, Claire Voyant and Kelly Fornia deliver performances ranging from the classics to the Top 40’s to songs you’ll want to download as soon as you get home! Kelly Fornia is Wellington's current reigning Mx Capital Drag and is also a well known show producer. Producing shows such as Clash of the Stars, S.L.A.Y and Formation, she aspires to provide platforms and opportunities to all drag performers to showcase their talent. Whether the performers are veterans or taking the stage for the first time, Kelly accommodates all to make sure all talent gets their time to shine.
Kelly took to the stage in March 2016 and has since performed in Auckland, Christchurch, New Plymouth and also a part of the Australian Burlesque Festival in Melbourne. Kelly has also won awards such as becoming the inaugural Fierce Taranaki in 2017. It is Kelly's mission to produce more shows around Wellington and New Zealand because there are so many aspiring drag superstars out there that need the platforms to be who they are.
