SCHOOLS ARE welcome AT THE HANNAH

If you are looking for a theatrical experience for your students, please give us a call. We love to introduce new generations to theatre, and there are a number of ways we can do this....

School Matinees

While we are a venue for hire, often shows will put on matinees timed specifically for school students. Have a look on the What's On tab, and contact us if you have questions or would like to make a booking. If there are no school matinees showing, but a particular show catches your eye, let us know. Not all school shows will be on the website, or we may be able to arrange a special price to allow you to bring your students to a public matinee or evening performance. Many companies offering school matinees will also offer resources that assist in tying the show into school curriculum. These resources maybe complimentary, but often have a cost associated.

School Tours

If you would like to learn about the workings of theatre and the history of the Hannah Playhouse, you are welcome to contact us to book a tour. These normally take around an hour, but can be customised to your requirements and the age group visiting. These are complimentary unless we need to bring in staff to facilitate your group, which would be dependent on the date and time the tour is booked for. Bookings subject to theatre availability.

Classwork on Stage

English, drama or dance

Is your class working on a curriculum topic or project, that would be enhanced by bringing it into the theatre? Shakespeare, speeches, a dance number or part of your school production? Would putting it onstage (in rehearsal conditions) bring it to life for your students? Our Classwork on Stage programme provides the Auditorium to you for 2-3 hours during school time, to further develop something you are working on in the classroom. We will start the ball rolling with a short theatre tour and a 5-10 minute chat about theatre terminology, and then the time is yours to develop your classwork.

Normally 2-3 hours is allocated for these bookings, but they can be customised to your requirements and the age group visiting. These are complimentary unless we need to bring in staff to facilitate your group, which would be dependent on the date and time of the booking. Bookings subject to theatre availability.
